Trends

  1. 10 of the last 10 winners were aged between 5 and 8.
    These horses didn’t necessarily punch above their weight, however, filling 90% of the total places from 88% of the total field. The over-achievers were 5yo’s in particular, filling 35% of the total places from 21% of the total field and accounting for 3 of the last 10 winners.
  2. 9 of the last 10 winners had won no more than one handicap.
    These horses filled 70% of the total places (including 90% of the winners) from 62% of the total field. The exception was Son Of Flicka in 2012, who had been heavily campaigned in handicap hurdles and won two.
  3. 8 of the last 10 winners had won a race this season.
    These horses filled 63% of the total places on offer from 56% of the total field.
  4. 9 of the last 10 winners had 10 or less previous starts over hurdles.
    Again, the exception was the heavily-campaigned 2012 winner Son Of Flicka. Horses with 10 or less starts over hurdles filled 83% of the total places from 68% of the total field.
  5. None of the last 10 winners had previously won a graded race, but 8 of the last 10 had won at least a class 3.
    One exception there is Aux Ptit Soins who had only run in Frace).
  6. 9 of the last 10 winners had won over 2m 1f-2m 6f.
  7. 8 of the last 10 winners were second-season hurdlers.
