Alan King’s horses are in flying form at the moment – his 4 runners since racing returned were a 5/6 winner, a 15/2 winner, a 9/2 2nd and an 8/1 winner. He runs Salmanazar in the 4:05 at Sandown today.
Paul Nicholls was in good form before the flu shutdown – his runners from the 4th to the 6th of February had form of 2241C21, and he got off the mark again yesterday with a winner, albeit at 10/11. He runs 4 horses today and their performance will really show whether his yard is still in top form as it was before the break – Saintemilion in the 12:50 at Sandown, Brelan Das in the 2:10 at Fakenham, Danse Idol in the 2:25 at Sandown and Some Man in the 2:45 at Fakenham.
Sam Twiston-Davies has won 6 times and placed another 3 times from 18 rides for Neil Mulholland, with form together since 2017 reading 101122 (the only runner to finish outside the top 2 in this period of time was Kansas City Chief, a 25/1 outsider in the Pertemps at last year’s Cheltenham festival). The pair team up today with Halo Moon in the 3:20 at Fakenham. He may appreciate a bit more of a give in the ground, but he does tend to run well at this time of year (form of 112 in February) and has run well at Fakenham in the past (form of B113 at the track).
