The Mares Hurdle is a relatively new addition to the festival, with its inaugural running taking place in 2008. It was upgraded to grade 1 status in 2015. Interestingly, it’s the only grade 1 hurdle at the festival over 2m 4f (despite calls from Gigginstown owner Michael O’Leary to introduce one).
The race is particularly well known for Willie Mullins’ domination of it with wonder-mare Quevega, who won the race each year from 2009 until 2014.
More resources for this race will be added between now and the race itself.
